July 3rd – July 31st: Building Our Church
January 6th – January 28th: God’s Creations!
Mom and Dad,
Our theme in the Ones this year is God’s Creations!! In January, the One Year Olds’ lessons are focused on Creation and Birds and Things that Fly! (Genesis)
The One Year Olds will be learning about God’s creations through some fun craft and sensory activities. We will send home a bird coloring sheet with a feather for you to glue on to it, watch a butterfly video, play a color match card game, and search for insects hiding in the leaves in the sensory table. The kids will also get to look at lots of different pictures of animals that can fly! We will talk about how God created all of the Birds and Things that Fly in the sky just like He created us!
Ideas to do with your kids during the week:
- Pray with your child at night and thank God for His creations like the beautiful birds that fly high in the sky.
- Read books to your child about God’s creations. Some suggestions include: Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you See? by Eric Carle and My First Animal Board Book by Nicole Zarick.
- Look through some books and magazines together and try to find things that can fly. Talk about how God created all of these animals just like he created us!
- Take a walk in the park and look for birds flying in the sky. See if you can find any other animals flying too.
- Put out some bird seed in your yard so you can watch the birds from your window all winter long!
